The All New 2015 Harley Davidson Freewheeler


Harley-Davdison of Prince George is proud to have the all-new 2015 Harley-Davidson Freewheeler in the showroom. Brand new to H-D this Trike takes the elements of the Tri-Glide and downsizes them slightly, giving you a more compact three wheeler.



So! What is the difference between the Tri Glide and the Freewheeler?




To start with H-D removed the Tri-Glide’s fairing and Tour-Pak top trunk. Next they moved the trunk forward and down, which shortens the Trike by three-inches. Designers managed this without compromising capacity – you can still fit two full-face helmets in the waterproof compartment.   Next designers moved the two-up seat forward an inch and lowered it by 6 inches.  Reviews say that the centre of gravity has been tightened up by the seat move, and that combined with the 12 inch mini-ape handlebar steering has reduced steering effort by a claimed 15 to 30 percent. Passengers have something to hold onto as well, a set of soft grip grab rails. 


The weight of this all new trike comes in at 133 lbs. lighter than the Tri Glide, and is ready to ride at 1,082 lbs. If your parking on a hill you won’t have to worry about a roll-away, the trike is equipped with a parking brake in the form of a foot pedal behind the left floor board. 



The look of this bike is low and lean. Starting at the front – a seven-piece headlight nacelle holding a dual-halogen headlight greets oncoming traffic. The rear has been lowered, and has a classic car feel to it with slash-down mufflers. This trike may be more compact than the Tri Glide but it’s still packed with style.




When looking at mechanics the biggest difference between the two models is the engine. The Tri Glide runs a Twin-Cooled High Output Twin Cam 103 engine while the Freewheeler sticks to the air-cooled version. Power is very comparable. Tri Glide comes in at 106.2 pound-feet of torque at 3,750 rpm while the Freewheeler is right behind with 104.7 pound-feet of torque at 3,250 rpm. Cruise control comes standard and air-adjustable rear shocks let you change your ride to suit load and conditions.
